This year we’ve pulled out the stops again to bring Festival favourites from near and far to take to our Shipyard Stage for three evenings of Shipyard Sessions.
Saturday is our theme party and we’re channelling the psychedelic sixties vibe of Love Food to bring you The Sound of Motown featuring the All Star Soul Band, led by Mowtown Pirates vocalist Liz Ashton, and Falmouth Community Gospel Choir. Afterwards there’ll be a happy dance floor with a DJ Set from Pete Isaac of Jelly Jazz – the undisputed grand daddy of the funk and jazz scene in the South West of England – featuring a soundtrack of jazz, soul, funk, afrobeat, latin, ska, and reggae cut up and mixed with all their modern derivatives in hip-hop, breakbeat, house and drum and bass. Oh yes!
And our locals’ night on Sunday evening will be a celebration of local talent with all-Porthleven musicians playing in a line-up featuring local garage band Ola Loco, perennial punk-surf favourites Half Kut, the emotional pop synths of Rosie Crow and the irresistible 80s get up and go (go) of Go Go Skank.
